On Friday, October 9th, a few members of our staff braved the pouring rain and thunderstorms to travel from Staten Island to Allentown, Pennsylvania for a very special fundraiser.

Warriors’ Watch Riders and Humble Hearts for Hope, Inc. came together to host a concert with Madison Rising, America’s Most Patriotic Rock Band, to raise funds to assist the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s effort to build a smart home for Cpl. Tim Donley, USMC, and his beautiful wife, Kelly, through our Building for America’s Bravest program. One unique aspect of this fundraiser is that 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales, raffle sales, etc. were donated directly to Tunnel to Towers. No overhead costs were taken out by any of the organizations hosting on the event! The event was held solely for the purpose of building Tim and Kelly a smart home.

It is always so amazing to come across individuals and groups that selflessly work to benefit our nation’s veterans. So many great Americans came together to make this event a wonderful, patriotic evening. We couldn’t feel more blessed to be work with such incredible people toward a common goal.

The night began with the Tunnel to Towers staff getting a chance to catch up with Tim and Kelly before the concert began. In case you didn’t know, Tim and Kelly are newlyweds – just married in May 2015! There is so much love radiating between these two – we couldn’t be happier for them! It was so great to sneak in a couple of minutes to see what was new with Tim and his family.

It was then time to take our seats. Following the national anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, and a prayer, the evening’s opening act “United We Sing” got things started with a rousing performance. The trio did a wonderful job performing patriotic songs. They definitely got the crowd excited to see Madison Rising perform!

Madison Rising came ready to rock! Lead singer, Dave Bray, puts his heart and soul into performing. Having served in the U.S. Navy, Dave is extremely patriotic and committed to continuing to serve. Through music, Dave and Madison Rising give tribute to our military service members as well as first responders, while at the same time sending a message that American culture is alive and well.

Throughout the evening, Dave thanked Tim for his service and honored him with several songs. At the end of the night, Tim was invited on stage to join the band for their encore performance of “The Star Spangled Banner.” Tim, who is also a musician, had a great time performing with the band. We love getting chances to see Tim perform live – he is so talented!

Sharing in the passions and interests of each individual service member that we work with through Building for America’s Bravest is something that is very important to us. The staff at the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation remains incredibly supportive of each of the individual service members, and is happy to know that a smart home will play a role in helping them achieve their dreams upon retiring from the military.

As a whole, the night was the perfect evening for a bunch of patriots like those of us here at the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Not only did we get to spend time with Tim and Kelly, but we were surrounded by other patriotic individuals and organizations all working together to support our nation’s heroes. We are grateful to all those at Warriors’ Watch Riders, Humble Hearts for Hope, Inc., and Madison Rising for aiding the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation in our efforts to build a smart home for Tim and Kelly through this fundraiser. We had a great time!
