Line of Duty Death: August 23, 2019

Illinois State Police Trooper Nicholas Hopkins, was shot and killed while serving a search warrant with his SWAT team at a home East St. Louis, Illinois.

He was 10-year veteran of the Illinois State Police Department who served a majority of time with the Illinois State Police SWAT Unit. Even in death he continued to save lives, his organs were donated to benefit as many as 40 people.

He is survived by his wife Whitney and three children: twins Evelyn and Owen, as well as younger sister Emma.  

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation paid off the mortgage on the family’s home in Waterloo, Illinois.Â
