LEGACY OF LOVE AND WINGS OF A HERO AWARDS
Since the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s inception, countless children, who have either been orphaned or have lost one parent, have been recipients of necessary funding to assist with education, counseling or other needs. Through the Legacy of Love initiative, families have received funding to assist with immediate emergency needs. To date, $750,000 has been gifted to recipients through these two programs.
STEPHEN’S HOUSE OF THE NEW YORK FOUNDLING
The Foundation co-chaired the capital campaign for a residential home providing a temporary haven for orphaned and/or broken teenagers so that they might live productive and fulfilling lives. Stephen’s name on the front of the home high on a hill in Staten Island, New York, gives witness to his love of children and commitment to caring about those in need.
Stephen’s House provides a safe haven for abused and neglected boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 15. The five-story facility includes ample recreational space, a meditation room, a diagnostic center, and 24 single dormitory-style rooms on two residential floors, one for girls and one for boys. Its setting, high on a hill, provides beautiful views of the Narrows and New York Harbor.
SUPERSTORM SANDY RELIEF
In response to our community’s tragic loss, the Foundation worked to restore the lives of families devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The Foundation set up three relief centers where disaster victims received essential food items and supplies to restore their lives, and worked tirelessly with thousands of volunteers to gut houses, provide clean up, and restore damaged homes. With the help of 15,000 volunteers, the Foundation cleaned and gutted 1,800 homes, carried our mold remediation on 1,000 homes, and completely rebuilt 250 homes. In total, 1,000,000 volunteer hours and $50,000,000.00 in services were provided to storm victims.
STEPHEN’S HOUSE OF THE MAISON D’ENFANTS PAR LA FOI ORPHANAGE
After an earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, the Foundation committed to join New Hope Baptist Church of Watertown, NY to help raise funds to relocate an orphanage for over 100 children in need of a safe place to heal and thrive. This project is now complete! Your support enabled us to provide funding for basic needs such as food, shelter, and education for the children.
