There are so many people – individuals, companies, and organizations – that are instrumental in making the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Building for America’s Bravest program a success. Many of these contributors are often recognized by the Foundation at our events, through social media, etc. However, there are many acts of kindness that go into making each smart home a real home for the service members and their families that fly under the radar, so to speak. One specific act of kindness that touched our hearts was a beautiful patriotic quilt that was handmade for SGT Bryan Dilberian, US ARMY for his home dedication on September 11, 2015.

Patches of this quilt were made with love by members of the UFT Quilt Class, Richmond Choral Society, and CloseKnit of the Noble Maritime Collection – all of which are local to the Staten Island area. What’s even more amazing is the fact that this project extended beyond Staten Island. The quilt was put together by Ellie Kosnac of Quilter’s Neck in Cape Coral, Florida!! We just love seeing the patriotic spirit go beyond our local community, and extend to all parts of the country! It shows that the support for Bryan, a native of Brooklyn who chose to have his smart home built on Staten Island, is supported by not just his immediate neighbors, but people all across the nation. It is truly inspiring to see all these ladies work together to make something so beautiful for someone else.

We had the pleasure of meeting some of the ladies who made the patches including Linda Reiersen and Adele Grimaldi from UFT Quilting, Gayle Bellafiore from Noble Maritime Collection, and Pat Sturman from Richmond Choral Society. They were so sweet and were excited to be part of making Bryan’s house a home. Thank you to all those who helped create the quilt for Bryan. Your hard work is greatly appreciated. We hope to see many more great quilts in the future!
